How the Program Works

The 8-Hour Therapist™ is a Do-It-Yourself course so you can obviously go at whatever pace you choose, but we recommend using the timeframe the program is delivered in. This allows you time to process, reflect, practice and apply what you've learned to your own life. It's like having a "weekly session" but on your time, and from wherever you are.

Become Your Own Therapist

The 8-Hour Therapist is based in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, and on a combined 40 years of research and practice. CBT is a highly effective solution for those suffering from depressed mood and anxiety, for both immediate impact and relief, and longer-term results that last a lifetime.

A review of over 33 studies showed that those who did self-directed therapy felt "substantially better", with significant reduction in depression and anxiety - especially when CBT techniques were taught.

The 8-Hour Therapist uses a skills and strategies building approach, helping you develop a "toolkit" of coping skills, confidence and resiliency to manage mental health concerns. It consists of video or audio lessons, exercises, assignments and activities that will help you practice and keep your new skills.

Dr. Natasha Sharma

Natasha has a Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D), and is a media personality, emotional fitness expert, mental health advocate, and co-creator of The 8-Hour Therapist™. She loves turning the complexities of human behaviour and potential into simple and effective advice, and helping people gain the knowledge and tools they need to take control of their personal mental health and make lasting positive changes.

Natasha is the founder of The Kindness Journal and has over 10 years of clinical, research, counselling and coaching experience. She is widely recognized as a leading authority on happiness, positive thinking, and emotional fitness. She's featured regularly on Global News, CP24, Breakfast Television, The Morning Show, CBC Radio, and Your Morning, and quoted in major publications like The New York Times, The Toronto Star, and The Globe and Mail. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, Natasha has been a key media correspondent for public mental health. She also has a popular TEDx Talk "Why What We Feel Matters More Than What We Think", with over a Quarter Million views on YouTube.


In 2016 Natasha created our best-selling prompted daily journal to develop a positive mindset through the practice of gratitude and compassion. Since then she has been devoted to creating simple and effective tools that empower people to support their mental and emotional health. In her spare time she sings, plays guitar and piano, writes poetry, plays tennis, teaches Karate (don't mess with her...she has her black belt!), and spends oodles of time with her 2 boys!

Dr. Dan Rutley (Course Instructor)

Dan has a Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D), is a Registered Psychotherapist, TV/Media Personality, Speaker, and former Magician! He is also the best-selling author of Escaping Emotional Entrapment, a guide to freedom from negative thinking and unhealthy emotions.

For over two decades, Dan has used a warm, direct and straightforward approach to helping people lead happier, healthier lives - in both in his private practice and through lectures and seminars.

A lifetime student of understanding people, Dan loves all the "ologies": Psychology, sociology, anthropology, and philosophy. In his quest to understand the human psyche, he has studied the psychology of illusions and magic, hypnosis, symbolism, and mythology. He has an ongoing fascination for the unknown and the mysterious! 

As an authority in the field of personal development and life enhancement, Dan remains on the cutting edge, blending his current knowledge in psychology and peak performance technologies with his experience of over 30 years in counselling, teaching and lecturing.
